Dr Anh Phan, head of the research team at CRES, was one of the speakers in the ‘Chemical Recycling Tomorrow’ session at the Global Research & Innovation in Plastics Sustainability (GRIPS) on 16 March 2021.

The talk focuses on a disruptive technology in chemical recycling from waste plastics developed at Newcastle University. Our technology can be applied to contaminated, mixed and multilayer waste plastics (that cannot be reused or recycled) without cleaning or separation requirements. We can either recycle monomers which can be reused as feedstock for polymer processing, or chemicals that can be processed further. The beauty of our technology is that it can be retrofitted into existing facilities.
